Dayali Beijing Roast Duck on York Boulevard charged with offenses that included failing to maintain a clean and sanitary premise during June 21 public health inspection
A Richmond Hill restaurant was charged for three food safety violations last week by York Region Public Health inspectors.
Dayali Beijing Roast Duck at 160 York Blvd. was charged June 21 with food premises not being maintained with food handling room in sanitary conditions, failure to protect food from contamination or adulteration, and failure to ensure food handler in food premise washes hands as necessary to prevent contamination of food areas, according to the online report for the period from June 19 to 25.
The charges stemmed from a combination of failing to maintain food equipment, failing to provide protection against the entrance of pests, and failing to maintain a clean and sanitary premise, the report stated.
Food handler education was carried out on site, and an acceptable temporary measure was put in place, the inspection report stated. A re-inspection will be conducted at a later date.
During the inspection, additional offenses for failing to maintain hand washing stations and failing to protect food from contamination or adulteration were corrected, the report stated.
York Region Public Health issues charges under the provincial Health Protection and Promotion Act. Charges are offense notices with set fines. It can also issue orders, which are verbal or written directions to correct a health hazard.
Inspections are carried out regularly and reported on weekly. Public health said the reports only speak to the condition of the restaurant at the time of the inspection and don’t guarantee its condition at any other time.
